It's good that you want to learn how to build a pole shed. It's good because it is very economical to build and takes less time than any other shed construction.

Unlike most other sheds, Pole sheds are super simple to construct. You dig holes, put in the poles, get the roof on top and put on walls if that's what you like. And that's just about it.

When you want to build a pole shed you need to know how big you want it to be. It can be anything from a small shed to a huge pole barn.

Most of the time you put the poles in the ground, specially if your shed is mid size or big. It can however be free floating if it is small. This is one of the reasons why you need to know how big you want your shed.

Putting the poles deep in the ground below frost level is a clever thing to do, even if you have a small shed. Yes, it will cost a bit more and you will not be able to move it. But it will be able to withstand almost any kind of weather and it will last much longer.

If you have decided on a size it's time to find a place. Finding a place can be tricky because you have to make sure that you choose a spot where the grounds drains well and does not retain water. You as little moisture in you shed as possible.

When you know how big you want your shed and where you can start sketching it. Personally I would recommend that you buy good plans instead of sketching it yourself. Doing so you will get you a strong shed that not only looks good but will last for years. A good plan is not expensive and it should include materials list and step-by-step instructions. This will help you buy the right materials and only what you need (save you money) and the instructions will help you build the shed really fast.

Maybe you need a building permit. If you don't have one then check with your local authorities if you need one and if you do, get it. Don't try to save $10-15 and get in trouble later.

With good plans in one hand and materials list in the other you go visit your local hardware store and lumber yard. If you want to save and trouble you buy everything on the list in one trip. It's so boring when you have to be constantly going to the store for some little things that you forgot or decided to wait to buy.

When you have got good plans, all the materials and all the tools needed for the job you can start building. How you begin depends a bit on the size of your shed and what plans you have bought.
