The internet has completely transformed all car marketing strategies. While most car dealers still only use text and images to present their inventory, some entrepreneurs in the field have started to successfully utilize online videos to show what they have on the lot. It is just a matter of time until all dealers will use videos.

There is no doubt that the internet is one of the most important factors in a car sale. Most people check the net first to see what is available or which car dealer they want to go to. You can't show this with a craigslist ad or a slide show. Only video can give you a feel for the car, the car dealer or sales person.

Every serious marketing campaign nowadays has to include online videos. The car industry is no exception. No matter if you want introduce potential customers to your dealership, show them a range of vehicles from your inventory or just want to run through the specs of a specific make and model, video is definitely the means by which you can achieve that in a short period of time.

In order to get the most out of your video content, you should syndicate them to as many different sources as possible. You probably immediately think of YouTube.com, but there are a lot more video sharing site available than that. Most of these sites are free and they are very easy to use. You can create profiles and video channels and personalize them.

When it comes to video editing software, there are many different opinions. When I started with online video years ago, I used Microsoft's Movie Maker. It's free and most probably already installed on your computer, if you have a PC. If you have a Mac you should have iMovie installed. Both of these editing programs work great and you can really create some nice videos with it. Always watermark you videos with a phone number and your domain name, so people can contact you or check out your website for some more information. In regards to a camera, I would just go with a simple HD camera like the Flip.

Because so many dealerships are discovering the real power of online videos, the competition starts to become tougher and tougher, but it is not that you have a real choice. If you want to be part of the car business, then you better get your videos ready. Grab a camera, stand in front of a car and start talking. That's all there is. It's just like a simple virtual sale pitch. If you have no problem selling cars at the lot, then it should also not be a problem to shoot a video about it.
